V-STEAMING AT HOME: ADVANCED SET-UP

You’ve done it: You have taken the plunge and made the decision to give yourself some radical self-care: Vaginal steaming. Props to you, mama.

Once you have gone through an intake process with your vaginal steam facilitator (that’s me!) and have received your herbs, you are ready to go. Let’s go!

This page will go over the details for an advanced steam set-up. This set-up is recommended for most steam sessions and is perfect for users who want to steam for long sessions or who desire more heat. As always, your private intake process will determine the best set up for your individual needs.

Items you will need:

Step 1: Place an electric burner (sold separately – available from Amazon or Target) in the sauna (steam seat). The nozzle should be facing the side opening. And the plug should go through the hole in the back. Plug in. *See example HERE. Can use small crockpot as well.

Step 2: If using an electric burner, bring 1-2 liters of water to a boil in metal pot. If using a crockpot as steam seat heat source, bring 1-2 liters of water to boil in metal pot on stovetop.

Step 3: Add 5 teaspoons of loose herbs to boiling water and cover with lid. You may add the herbs into the water loose, or you may choose to put them inside a cheesecloth or tea strainer.

Step 4: Turn temperature to medium and allow herbs to simmer for 10 minutes. At this time your steam tea is ready for use. Note: You may opt to reuse your herbs once. If you would like to do that, simply strain the herbs out at this time and store covered in refrigerator for later use. Tip: If using electric burner in steam seat/sauna, make sure to leave the top of the sauna open so that it doesn’t get too hot inside the sauna.

Step 5: After 10 minutes, turn heat off or turn down to low. If using an electric burner, simply remove lid when ready and test steam temperature with hand. If it feels too hot, wait a minute before sitting over it. You are now ready to go! If using a crockpot set-up, transfer steam tea to crockpot and you are set to steam!

Step 6: Sit over the steam for 10-30 minutes (as directed by me), adjusting temperature to your comfort level. Steam no longer than 30 minutes. I recommend draping a light cloth over your lap to further contain steam.
