V-STEAMING AT HOME: MILD SET-UP

You’ve done it: You have taken the plunge and made the decision to give yourself some radical self-care: Vaginal steaming. Props to you, mama.

Once you have gone through an intake process with your vaginal steam facilitator (that’s me!) and have received your herbs, you are ready to go. Shall we dive in?

This page will go over the details for a mild steam set-up. A mild set-up is recommended for your first steam session, as well as some other reasons indicated by your intake process.

Items you will need:

Step 1: Using a kitchen stove or setup an electric burner, bring 1-2 liters of water to a boil in metal pot

Step 2: Add 5 teaspoons of loose herbs to boiling water and cover with lid. You may add the herbs into the water loose, or you may choose to put them inside a cheesecloth or tea strainer.

Step 3: Turn temperature to medium and allow herbs to simmer for 10 minutes. At this time your steam tea is ready for use. Note: You may opt to reuse your herbs once. If you would like to do that, simply strain the herbs out at this time and store covered in refrigerator for later use.

Step 4: Using a steam seat/chair/stool (or alternate instructions below), move pot under seat and test steam temperature with hand. If it feels too hot, wait a minute before sitting over it. You are now ready to go! Remove your undergarments, sit over the steam, and relax for 10 minutes. I recommend draping a light cloth over your lap to further contain steam.
